The Gresini team had to take care of 2012 at a prototype and a CRT machine. On both sides there were ups and downs.

Alvaro Bautista
Alvaro Bautista made it two times on the podium
Gresini Racing 2012 was a divided team and will continue to be the 2013th This is not because of any disputes within the team, but just the fact that the troupe of Fausto Gresini Honda a prototype and a FTR Honda CRT parallel machine began. Despite these two souls who fought in the chest of the team, there were very high points on both sides of the garage - but also negative.

First the positive. Alvaro Bautista was 2012 from the prototype squeeze quite useful results. Misano and Japan, he secured podium places in the UK, he was able to secure pole position. Overall, the Spaniards contributed relatively few errors, said his biggest mistake was like racing a real giant buck. When starting the race at Assen, he missed all the braking point, was able to keep his plane on the way into Turn 1 and not from Jorge Lorenzo admitted with what was at the time of the season, a significant impact on the championship fight.

In Bradls shadow

Bautista had in the first half of the season to put up a lot of questions. Thus, his results were good, but not outstanding. Rookie Stefan Bradl seemed on the satellite LCR Honda team steal the show a little. Soon there were rumors Bautista could lose his place. With a really good second half of the season but the Spaniard could negate all the rumors and secured for next year to remain with Gresini.

Unlike the case lay with Gresini CRT pilots Michele Pirro. He voluntarily went away after the season and was a test driver for Ducati rather than continuing to work with the Honda FTR. Here, Pirro had no shame for his season. At the beginning he had severe disadvantages because his machine until very late, and it rolled off the stack so with some test residue went to the first race. Initially wanted so can not really go for the Italians, but gradually put the machine as well as to himself.

Final highlight

Assen - yes, exactly where Lorenzo Bautista shot down - could Pirro set for ninth first highlight. His biggest problem was often the technique since he stopped again and again with defects. When he got the biggest opportunity of the year, but by holding the machine. In the difficult conditions in Valencia Pirro made almost everything right and fifth place was the best result of a CRT driver drive into the season. Nevertheless, he wanted in the future rather sit on pure prototypes. With a test with Ducati in 2013, a job few wildcard appearances are connected, 2014 then he could be a regular driver. Pirro held next year Bryan Staring will drive the CRT machine Gresini.
