Formula 1 - Marussia Lowdon Sees 2013 On The Rise

Marussia F1 Team

Marussia Caterham is not as easy place
Thanks to an improved technical structure, the incorporation of KERS and possibly more budget Graeme Lowdon expects a good year 2013 for Marussia.

For Marussia sports director Graeme Lowdon is certain his team in 2013 to make a breakthrough after it this year in the development could achieve some improvements. Still, he sees greater the chances of a strong increase, the team should be able to keep the tenth place in the Constructors, which it currently holds thanks to Timo Glock's twelfth place in Singapore. This would Marussia several million euros more obtained from the marketing pot of Formula 1 and thus could work even better.

Even so, this year, the approach to Caterham was visible after the beginning were some problems, since the final crash tests were not initially existed, and this resulted in delays in the test program came before the season - in the end only a short Film Day remained in Silverstone in preparation. The plans for 2013 are ambitious meantime. KERS will be used in a row and after the departure of Nick Wirth in the summer of 2011, the engineering department was rebuilt, Lowdon expects a much better season. "The whole team has worked in Banbury and at the track under very, very difficult circumstances, very hard," he said.

Brazil as the joker

Without winter testing with a small budget and Lowdown last saw yet strong development work, which is why he feels the entire team great anticipation to 2013. "The technical regulations will remain about the same. We bring KERS and we know how many tenths is the job myself. Aerodynamics for next year's car looks good and everyone is delighted, where we are going with the team." Lowdon now hopes only that Caterham in the last two races of the season reached a twelfth or even better cuts, otherwise the tenth Constructors would rank gone.

As the greatest threat he considers the final in Brazil because there Caterham with KERS has good benefits and in Interlagos always be messy, what stragglers could use to their advantage. "The assumption was that Brazil could be the Joker who throws everything up," said Lowdon Autosport. "It is a huge advantage to have KERS in Brazil, because it is at a higher altitude. So we know that they have from the outset a PS advantage and there are some ways to take advantage of the."
